Some Jazz Trumpet

Terrell Stafford, right, the director of Jazz Studies at Temple University, gives J.J. Kirkpatrick a few pointers on the use of a plunger mute for a trumpet during a visit to the Beaverton Arts and Communication Magnet Academy's Jazz Orchestra. The visit preceded the orchestra's trip to New York City, where they'll perform in the Lincoln Center's 10th annual Ellington High School's Jazz Band Competition.
